Elk Whistler is a 26 year old Lakota man. His mother passed away when he was 5 years old from cancer. After that he went to live with an aunt, but it didn't work out. So his grandma took him in. She was an avid star quilt maker, and he naturally picked it up from her.
She certainly taught him right. He creates the most amazingly beautiful star quilts. He makes the tops for me since my vision makes sewing impossible these days, and I take them down town and have them long arm quilted. Between the two us, we are an awesome team. Thank you, Elk Whistler, for joining up with me.
Destiny loves purple and when she created my Dawn Star quilt top for me, she put my star on a purple background instead of the usual black. WOW, I love it. I hope to carry more of her wonderful star quilt tops, if this one proves to be popular.
I plan to carry more of Patricia's machine quilted baby star quilts. She has a powerful sense of color and design, and her work is excellent and I like it. Her fabrics and materials used are the best too. She has a special source for her Native design fabrics and her quilted backings.
Patricia R. Kniffen Tandy is 1/4 Shoshone-Bannock, an enrolled tribal member of Ft. Hall, ID, and she's a bit of Mohawk too. She lives here not far from me on the Spokane Indian Reservation, with her husband. Her daughters and granddaughters have received many many star quilts from her over the past years. So she's had lots of practice! Buy her quilts with confidence on quality, beauty, and price.
